Fragments is a multimedia performance that explores the ideas of Antonin Artaud. The live movement performance responds to the biography of Artaud within the framework of a series of Tarot readings he made in 1937 in conversation with a silent, black-and-white film of Woyzeck and a neo-classical noise score.
The piece creates an affective response in the audience through Artaud’s ideas of ‘An Affective Atheleticism’, and ‘The Theatre of Cruelty’.
The methodology is a combination of technology available in the 21st Century and elements of corporeal mime and similar performance techniques contemporaneous with Artaud.
The intention is to resurrect, through theatrical magic and ritual, Antonin Artaud.
